I joined 365 Performance a little over a year ago and I can say in all honesty it has been one of the best things I have ever done. I originally came to know about CrossFit through seeing the CrossFit Games on TV one day.
They say it is all in the timing, and for me I would definitely say that was true, I was ready for a change in my life and what I saw on that day intrigued me, it looked like fun. On reflection I think the variety of events in those Games was what initially made me sit up and think.
Whilst I am a disciplined person by nature and finish everything that I start, back prior to CrossFit, that meant “training” in the pub most nights each week, but I was ready for something more…. I dialled them up and Scott was the first person I spoke to. He arranged a time for me to come in to have a consultation and the rest as they say, is history.
I signed up for personal training for a year – I put my trust in Scott from the very start, I told him that basically I wanted to become fitter. Each week I would spend 3 days, an hour per session under Scott’s supervision. His guidance also extended to directing me with my eating plan. What I received during this time was a complete path to overall health and fitness of the body, mind and soul. Don’t get me wrong, he was hard, actually I will rephrase that, he pushed me f****** hard. He continually kicked my butt to the limits for my level of fitness and for what I asked him to achieve from me, and truthfully I loved every bit of it. With every bit I was a step closer to achieving the mental and physical fitness that I was aiming for.
During that entire year training, which was at 5.30 am, I woke up each time eager to get there. Scott’s enthusiasm and professionalism as a trainer, motivator and friend is second to none. He just has a knack of finding something deep down inside you to keep you going. What I also found with the team at 365 Performance was how everyone makes you feel welcome, it’s like one big family. The coaches are all fantastic, their approachable, only to keen to help guide you, motivate you, play with you, their highly professional and very passionate about what they do. And that enthusiasm passes on right throughout the gym. Everyone, including the other members are always there to cheer you on, to get you through those last hard seconds! Even the kids that train each Saturday are the first to cheer each other on – it’s great to see their enthusiasm and the enjoyment they have.
Just over 12 months on and I can’t imagine my life without it. My fitness level is the best it’s been in 41 years. My mental alertness is heightened to a new level and my overall general well being has improved dramatically. My outlook on life has changed – completely for the better. I can’t speak highly enough about 365 Performance, it doesn’t matter what sort of person you are, how old you are, or what you wish to achieve, they will welcome you and guide you to be the best you want to be.
