CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids is not merely a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely and absolutely CrossFit, geared and designed for a younger population and the specific developmental needs of that population.

CrossFit Kids shapes lives as opposed to changing lives, through our CrossFit Kids program we hope to reverse prevalent health trends and create a community of young like minded individuals. The benefit of our CrossFit Kids program is not only general fitness and health, but they will learn valuable life skills that will be transferable from their experiences in the gym to the outside world through strength, both mentally and physically, through perseverance and creating a good work ethic.

 

CrossFit Kids combines gymnastics, body-weight calisthenics and weightlifting elements to develop capacity across the 10 General Physical Skills;

  • Coordination
  • Ability
  • Balance
  • Flexibility
  • Strength
  • Cardio Respiratory Endurance
  • Stamina
  • Agility
  • Speed
  • Power

The 10 General Physical Skills your child will practice in the gym are used in everyday life, from running for the bus, to picking up a heavy backpack, running up the stairs, jumping across a creek, or a running race. Your child will be prepared for most things life hands to them and be able to do so being less susceptible to injury.

Our 365 Kids number one rule is FUN!! It is imperative for kids to pair fitness with fun and create a lifelong love of health and fitness!

What to Expect

The class goes for a duration of 45 minutes.

Whiteboard

We begin at the whiteboard filled with pictures and colours and explain the class activities in a child friendly way.

Fun Warm-Up

Can be game based, skill based or a combination of the two.

Focus/Skill Work

All classes will work on a skill/specific point of performance every 6 weeks (i.e. Squat and Deadlift).
Learning the movement only (no weights) over a 6-week period, introducing a new skill every 6 weeks.

WOD

CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely absolutely CrossFit geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population. (Neurological, cognitive, motor) In other words ESSENTIAL for child health, growth and development.

Game

We finish with a game for the appropriate age: Duck Duck Goose, Follow the leader, Dodge Ball etc…..
